Passive solar design

Apart from fuel we use for transportation, the heating and cooling of our homes accounts for a significant portion of energy we use throughout the day, month and year.

This represents an on-going financial cost that can be quite a burden in the summer and winter months, consumes limited resources and often times comes from non-renewable energy sources.

Luckily there's enormous room for improvement in this sector using existing technology, primarily in the form of passive solar design. A passive solar home uses the intelligent placement of double and triple pane windows to allow direct sunlight into living spaces during colder months when the sun angle is lower and heavier roofing material to block heat from entering the home during warmer months.
